Be A Spy

Let’s Blog, Let’s Talk
(APRIL 2016 BLOGS. WEEK 3)

BE A SPY -In reflection, I noticed that I may have avoided a lot of negative outcomes and or choices if I had only gathered the facts before I ventured into some stuff. Have you wandered, why although Joshua and Caleb had full access of God’s protective power and glory; they still sent spies to scout the territories(lands) they were about to possess? (Joshua 6:1-27) But they spied for God ordained reasons and here is how they went about them:
Spy by receiving instructions from God- You need to be well informed before you venture in! God already showed Moses and Joshua the land they were to occupy and even the statue of their opponents or occupants of the land.
Spy by researching where you are going, what you want to venture into and to study your opponents. Since they were treading on new territories, they sent spies scout the lands. Why, I am thinking to determine whether it is worth the fight, see what they could benefit from the land, (what is there to gain in this land) to know the opponent’s power and strategies and whether this is for short term gain or long-term or generational gain.
Spy by seeking counsel from trusted people around you. You will know these people by the revelation of the Holy Spirit and by their fruits (Character, attitude and lifestyle). Plans fail for lack of counsel (Proverbs 15:22), but in the company of many counselors there is safety (Proverbs 11:14)
Prayer- Seriously, they asked God “should we go after these guys? 1 Chronicles 14.14-David inquired again of God,) and God said to him, ” When God said ok, go ahead the Israelites prevailed, when they disobeyed, their opponents defeated them, WHEN THEY PARTIALLY OBEYED, (Like the Ai incident in Joshua 7:2-5) the Israelites lived with long term consequences of their disobedience.
Wait for God to Give you the strategy- 1 Chronicles 14.14You shall not go up after them; circle around behind them and come at them in front of the balsam trees. And likewise for Joshua, God provided the strategy to tumble Jericho.
As an informed believer, now you have strategies and know who and what you are dealing with. This also includes being strategic in prayer. We can avoid pitfalls and repeated cycles of defeat. If venturing into a new business, marriage, career, house, name it, spy using the examples above and acquire information to make the right choices. After one victorious outcome, you will gain faith and are ready to take on the next venture! “Bring it on! Bring it on! This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. (1 John 5:14) Do not just take risks; take calculated God ordained risks. They always produce very fruitful outcomes. No more Christian causalities! Do your part, do your homework, be a spy. Be encouraged, God is Faithful and Dependable.
