While reflecting on life a few weeks ago; I realized two keys areas that impacted me greatly. These areas were also costly psychologically, spiritually and economically. Had I known, I would have changed a few courses in my life, but thanks be to God who has revealed these now. The two areas are (1) spiritual ignorance (not knowing) and (2) the desire to belong.
The Scriptures that came to mind as I reflected on these were: Jeremiah 33.3 Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come and Psalm 32.8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
Spiritual Ignorance in this context means not knowing spiritual aspects of both kingdoms. God’s Kingdom and the demonic.
(1) For example, failing to grasp the ways God spoke or warned me severally because I assumed those were just my thoughts talking. Or accepting a prophesy and just running with it without praying about it or even testing the prophesy.
(2)On the demonic, it took me quite a while to realize that evil exists. I did not know about potential doors that we can open for satan through our words or actions. I just be believed the world was a nice place and everyone who said they were saved were genuine Christians until the opposite happened.
(3) The need to belong also served to be costly. Inviting and allowing people in your life whom you shouldn’t . It is from here that I learned that not everybody who gets close to you has good intentions for you. See my problem was that I trusted easily, helped easily, sympathized quickly and was prompt to help. Until the phone calls stopped after the help was granted or more was required after the help was given or worse yet, the friendship ended after the support was granted.
The need to belong makes one susceptible to wrong company; people who distract you from your destiny and are mostly time wasters. I also noticed that satan used these wrong associates for spiritual attacks. Satan will often use the person (s) closest to you to attack. The person Satan uses is rarely far from you, look at your inner circle.
This week’s blog is on self-reflection on our walk with God.
The reason I experienced the above is because I did not have a relationship with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a true Helper who guides us in everything. In both Jeremiah 33 and Psalm 32, this same Holy Spirit will show us the deeper things that God wants for our destiny. The Holy Spirit is the one who reveals satanic schemes as well.
The Holy Spirit will show how to pray and join you in prayers. He will even guide and connect us to “healthy people” who will support God’s purpose in us. When you are with God assigned people and in God designated environment, you will thrive and be fruitful.
This weekend ask the Holy Spirit to reveal Himself to you; then get greedy and ask Him to show you everything about yourself or your family. Be ready then to embrace what He shows you.
