JESUS IS OUR PEACE-MEET JESUS SERIES

We continue to identify other aspects of Jesus that we must engage with beyond salvation. Peace was one of the blessings and promises we acquired when we got saved. Receiving Christ is receiving peace, not just receiving his peace, because he is our peace. This means that if you confess that you have Christ in you, you should also have peace because peace is Christ’s nature. Peace is Christ. Isaiah foretold Jesus’s identity as the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).

Acquiring salvation is only an attribute of Christ. There is more about Him that we need to learn and partake of to attain the fullness of Christ. Ultimate maturity is being completely conformed to the image of Christ, and to do so, we must lay the foundation of who Christ is. Jesus is the Prince of Peace because we cannot find peace in anything else-we cannot find peace in our achievements, jobs, or money. A fellow human cannot make you peaceful. Ephesians 2:14-18 For he (Christ) himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 1by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. Through Him, we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

So, it is amazing that after surrendering to the Lordship of Jesus, as discussed last week, we enjoy the benefit of that peace. Some of the advantages of peace are that. Peace allows you to discern chaos, drama, and distractions. Peace increases clarity giving you the ability to concentrate and accomplish goals. You make good decisions (sound judgment) when you are peaceful. Peace enhances physical, emotional, and mental health. We can accomplish more when we have peace within than internal turmoil. We can hear God clearly; our spiritual gifts are enhanced by internal peace. The antidote for worry, anxiety, fear, doubt, and doublemindedness is peace in Jesus.

One of the things I have noticed is that when the enemy has exhausted all he needs to, he will attempt to disrupt your peace. By disrupting the peace, he hopes that you will retreat, abort your plans, or delay executing them. Any attack that the enemy brings is meant to disrupt peace. Peace is an internal thing- and only Christ can provide that! Because of this, he wrote, Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7).

Christ’s peace guards our minds and hearts. You can only give what you have. Christ, as our peace, also allows us to be peacemakers. Matthew 5:9 states, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Some blessings are associated with being a peacemaker—part of the Salvation we receive involves deliverance to have peace.  Isaiah 53:5 reads -, But he was pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds, we are healed. This means anything that impairs our peace is forbidden, be it situations or people.

Here is the activation for this week: Recognize that you have the Prince of Peace in you and as your Lord. The Lord of Peace is over you. Recognize that Christ is your peace, so Whatever issue you may have, Isaiah says Christ’s punishment brought us peace (Isaiah 53:5). So, you should not endure extreme bondage in your mind, emotions, or body that disrupts your peace. Commit all the areas to the Lord and allow his peace to guard your heart and mind. I encourage you to release peace over yourself daily, declare peace in your situations daily, and be a peacemaker. Romans 12:18 says, If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Personalize it, Jesus Christ, my peace.
