The Thanksgiving holiday is a joyous occasion often filled with food and fun. Families gather to reunite with one another and reflect on cherished memories. For believers, however, Thanksgiving is also a reflective moment. It is a time to consider God’s goodness in the past, present, and future. Thanksgiving represents a posture of the heart and an attitude of the mind. It is not just a holiday; it is a daily lifestyle. This grateful attitude impacts our relationships with God and with others. Cultivating a lifestyle of gratitude is key to unlocking God’s favor and blessings.
As you celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday this year, the purpose is to thank God anyway because God still sustained and strengthened us and helped us to walk through the challenging and good experiences we had this year. Be resolute in thanking God like Habakuk and Job; despite their bleak experiences, they resolved to bless the Lord (Habakkuk 3:17-18: Job 1:21).
May these Psalms continually fuel you through the Thanksgiving Holiday and after that. “Bless the Lord, oh my soul, and that is within me, bless his holy Name” (Psalm 103). “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, and his love and mercy endure forever. His faithfulness continues through all generations”( Psalm 107:1-2; Psalm 100).
Let us embrace Thanksgiving as more than just a holiday. By incorporating gratitude into our daily lives, we can create a lasting culture of appreciation that enriches our experiences and strengthens our connections.
