Last Thursday I woke up in a funk, whining about everything possible, I mean just going on and on and on. Then I realized something; that the more I whined and complained the more my body and emotions begun to conform to what I was saying. I mean I could sense what my bad attitude was doing to body.
The suddenly I remembered that I am setting the tone for this entire day. Then I recalled a teaching I had just heard from Pastor Chris Oyakhilome; that “you are responsible for where you are”. Disclaimer: – I am quoting Ps Chris in the context of this blog only. So anyways, right away, I switched to a prayer of thanksgiving. I started thanking the Lord for everything. Then I reflected on Ps Chris’s message again and turned the prayer to commanding my spirit to align with the Word of God. I told my body straighten up, I told my mind strengthen yourself, I spoke to my mind and body and said receive strength, received power. I told my emotions lighten up. Then I heard the Holy Spirit say “rejoice in the Lord always”. OOH, then I proceeded to tell my body, mind and heart to rejoice in the Lord. As I prayed by body, emotions started to get lively, my attitude changed; a metamorphosis was taking place. It’s like a switch went off, turned 180 degrees. Then I sighed, you mean this was all a matter of my mind?
As I ended the prayer I heard the Holy Spirit singing in me, “Bless the Lord, Oh my soul and all that is within me, bless His Holy Name”. So I joined the Holy Spirit and we sang this line together over and over all day into Friday. As I got to work, I noticed my to-do list had major items that needed to be addressed. My mind stayed alert and sharp in meetings and in systems and processes I needed to develop. At the end of the work day on Friday evening; I testified, that “it had been a good day, God is good”
James 3: 1-6 THE POWER OF THE TONGUE-this week if your thoughts say anything contrary to what God says about you. Stop right there, speak to your thoughts, speak to your emotions. Engage the Holy Spirit, speak in tongues, experience the 180 degree turn around; in the Name of Jesus! All things are possible to them who BELIEVE! Mark 9:23
