EACH  SPIRIT FILLED BORN-AGAIN BELIEVER QUALIFIES FOR THE SUPERNATURAL LIFETSTYLE

Often when we hear about the supernatural, we think that this grandiose experience is limited to the chosen few within the body of Christ, such as those with key titles! Especially when people talk about their elaborate experiences of being in heaven, seeing God and all other encounters, we may feel “little” and unqualified for the supernatural. But I believe the supernatural transcends beyond encounters and what is seen. I believe  the supernatural includes our identity, the influence of the Holy Spirit in the gifts and callings He has given us, it includes miracles, signs and wonders, exploits , greater works, revelatory gifts, such us prophesy, seer and power gifts, hearing the voice of God, dreams, visions and encounters; and day to day  relationship with the Holy Spirit. So if you are experiencing any of these; you are already walking in the supernatural!

I have also discovered that many Holy Spirit (Spirit) filled believers are already walking in the supernatural but they do not realize it. The reason for this is because of the definition and explanation of the term “supernatural” and how it has been relayed to us.  What is the supernatural anyway? The supernatural is the supernatural is what is beyond or above nature or science. My personal definition for the supernatural is “when God uses the ordinary to produce the extraordinary. The supernatural then involves the exploits mentioned in Daniel 11:32 and the Greater works that Jesus mentioned in John 14:12; the supernatural includes the above and beyond in Ephesians 3:20. All realms of the spirit are included in the supernatural; God, Jesus Christ, the angelic, the human spirit and the demonic are part of the supernatural. The supernatural is a lifestyle not a one-time event! Thus it must be developed, nurtured, and stewarded well.

The supernatural is part of our blessing and inheritance. Failing to partake of it is like living in a fully furnished mansion that is rightfully yours, but you limit yourself to only living in the kitchen instead of enjoying the rest of the house. There is more to being -born again beyond salvation. A lifestyle of the supernatural is one of the many blessings of the Kingdom of God!

Each spirit filled born again can engage in supernatural because they are created in the image of The Supernatural God; and they are filled by the Holy Spirit. Because of this supernatural nature, we are capable of relating with God supernaturally, walking in the supernatural and we are capable of producing supernatural outcomes. It is through the Holy Spirit that we engage and walk in the supernatural. Thus Through the Holy Spirit, we can do the extraordinary things. Through the Holy Spirit, God can use an ordinary thing or person to do the extraordinary things. For example, Samson killed a thousand Philistines with the jaw of a donkey ( Judges 15: 14-16), Elijah outrun the King’s chariots to beat the rain( 1 Kings 18:46), Jesus turned 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish to feeding more than five thousand people (Matthew 14:13-21),  Peter preached for the first time after being filled with the Holy Spirit on Pentecost and three thousand people got saved(Acts 2:1-14), the apostles and Peter were filled with the Holy Spirit that His shadow healed the sick (Acts 4:12-16). Paul did miracles through the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit (Acts 19:11-12).

We too are capable of walking in the supernatural because God sows no partiality, all is needed is faith.  When we collaborate with the Holy Spirit, tune to Him, remain sensitive to Him, obey, and trust Him, the supernatural becomes a natural lifestyle I call it being supernaturally natural and naturally supernatural. There is a lot of interest in the supernatural of God, and I am glad to share that the supernatural is for everyone. Each born again believer has the ability and capacity to walk in the supernatural and live a supernatural lifestyle because we are filled with the Holy Spirit. The supernatural extends in all areas, in prayer, in worship in praise, beyond prophecies to daily life encounters and applications. It is common to engage with the Holy Spirit that talking to Him becomes a common occurrence. It is normal to engage with God’s angels on a regular basis. It is normal and common to carry the glory and presence of God 24/7. It is normal to be in supernatural here on earth while living in a natural world.

The following are the different ways the Holy Spirit engages with us supernaturally:

The Holy Spirit ushers us in God’ s presence giving us ability to talk to God. We walk with God through the Holy Spirit. In Hebrews 6:4-6, we see that the Holy Spirit supernaturally allows us to share in the power and the goodness of what we will eventually share in heaven. So, aspects of what we experience in the supernatural now, are only a taste of heaven. The Holy Spirit though the supernatural allows us to taste heaven while we are still here on earth, to experience the age to come through encounters with Him.

The supernatural is an inheritance of each believer – Ephesians 1:13-14 says that after salvation, we were also marked and sealed by the Holy Spirit, giving us a deposit of an inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession to the praise of His glory

We have the supernatural ability for miracles signs and wonders just like Paul and Peter did special miracles, salvation, healing, and deliverance like that for Peter in Paul in Acts 4, 5 and Acts 19 and the rest of the book of Acts. Additionally Jesus promised that we will do more because both authority and power has been given to us, John 14:12 -14-Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ask anything in My name, I will do it.

We can experience protection, strengthening, and deliverance by supernatural power of the Holy Spirit. In Scripture, we see the Holy Spirit move supernaturally to protection and rescue Paul and Silas in Acts 16, when Paul and Silas were imprisoned, and God intervened! The Holy Spirit also protects and preserves through warnings and prohibitions for example when the Holy Spirit forbade Paul and Silas from travelling to preach in Asia in Acts 16: 6-7 says Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them. Expect the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit to protect, preserve and warn and you too

The Holy Spirit Strengthens us supernaturally when we are weak or tired- This is from personal experience, there are countless times that I have been exhausted both mentally, emotionally, and physically but after engaging in praying tongues, I have been rejuvenated and restored. There are times when such weakness are attacks of the enemy and at times they are from burnout. I believe engaging the Holy Spirit in both cases helps, because the Holy Spirit can also warn when you need to take a break and rest, while He also refreshers and restored strength. See the promise in Isaiah 40:31 NJKV says But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Whenever you are tired, engage the Holy Spirit, take time off to pray in tongues, take a break from what you are doing, get some rest. You will more alert when you get back to it. I recommend listening to your body and listening to the Holy Spirit too.

The Holy Spirit also engages in warfare supernaturally deliver us from enemy attacks. I have learned to involve the Holy Spirit in spiritual warfare as well. Yes, we engage the matchless Name of Jesus Christ, we engage the Powerful Blood of Jesus, we engage warring angels, we engage the Word of God and of course the Holy Spirit. Isaiah 59:17 b says When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. The Holy Spirit as a Helper and advocate is an integral Person in our deliverance!

The supernatural work of the Holy Spirit in ministry- I believe that when we got born again, everything about us became spiritual. It is through the Holy Spirit that we receive power and grace to minister Zechariah 4:6b says that it is not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty. The anointing that we minister in is from the Holy Spirit- we should be careful not to call it “my anointing” but rather develop, nurture, guard, and steward well the anointing and the grace we have been given.

We are able to live and function in our spiritual life by the Holy Spirit. As supernatural beings, the Holy Spirit supernaturally empowers and enables us to live this life. Hence, we should not judge believers others who may not be living like us, Instead pray and help them encounter the Holy Spirit. Pray for their hearts to be made pliable, turned from stone to flesh. Pray that they are convicted by the Holy Spirit and that the Spirit of the fear of Lord encounters them. It is only by the Holy Spirit that we are sustained to live a successful Spirit-filled life

The Holy Spirit fuels our natural and spiritual gifts to make us effective and fruitful in whatever we do. Acquiring knowledge is good. I believe that Knowledge and expertise are keys, but the Holy Spirit fuels our knowledge and gives us wisdom to effectively apply that knowledge in our spheres of influence. Because of this we should never rely on our achievements but on the Holy Spirit our Teacher and Counselor, Who directs us in truth in all matters. The Holy Spirit also empowers us through the gifts He has given us, both spiritual and natural gifts. The Holy Spirit inspires our creativity, every skill or talent. With this we can learn to submit out gifts, careers, business, skills to the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit breaths on your gift, business, skill, career, or talent, there will be fruitfulness, multiplication, abundance, favor, and breakthrough. We prosper in all we do when the Holy Spirit is permitted to influence our gifts. This is causes wealth and prosperity in what we do.

So how can you live a Supernatural Lifestyle? Consider the following:

Stay connected to Your Power Source-God is the source of ALL power because He is All-Powerful or Omnipotent. To walk in the supernatural power, we must stay hooked to the power, constantly recharging, constantly refueling. It is like a computer, to keep it running, we must ensure that it is recharged. If you utilize any electronic device, after some time it requires charging its battery. We cannot run on empty or drained if we want to success in the supernatural. Failing to do that results in “making up the supernatural” which is the long run will be exposed by the fruits of the person doing that. We cannot mock God. In our walk we must recharge with God frequently. This means Knowing God more intimately. Spending time with Him alone in prayer, devotion and listening to Him. I recommend this for those who desire to ignite their intimacy with God. Identify 15 minutes a day that you can spend with God. Split the 15 minutes into three; read the Bible for 5 minutes, pray for 5 minutes, the sit down for 5 minutes with a journal to write the impressions, messages, or visions you receive from God. From here you can incrementally increase your devotion time. Get a Bible version that you can easily understand, like the NLT, NKJV or NIV, TPT whatever version that you like

Be Filled with the Spirit– the Holy Spirit is the one who stewards the supernatural including doing exploits and moving in “Greater Works” -So pray to be filled with Holy Spirit. Be filled with the Spirit and yield to His instructions. When we collaborate with the Holy Spirit, tune to Him, remain sensitive to Him, obey, and trust Him, the supernatural becomes a natural lifestyle. I have a prayer of how you can be filled with the Holy Spirit and impartation for the supernatural  at the end of this article.

Believe- Adamantly believe the word of God for what it is the truth. God’s word is sure to perform, God’s word does not change. God swears by His word. So believe God at His word. Believe that With God, ALL things are possible. Believe that God does exceedingly above all that we know or ask.

Build your faith up and become a Faith Giant Faith comes by hearing and by hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17). Faith in God is the foundation of salvation and walk with God. The Supernatural requires faith. Jesus said athat even the faith the size of mustard seed. A mustard seed measures about 1 to 2 millimeters or 0.039 to 0.079 inches (source Wikipedia). Imagine the exploits you can do with gigantic faith! So build up your faith by standing firm on the word of God and His promises. Stay unshakable and immovable despite the opposite. Remember the supernatural defies science, this is what happened to Abraham and Sarah when they conceived at 100 years old. Also note that it is impossible to walk in the supernatural without ‘any size” of faith.

Feed on God’s word– Indulge in reading the Word of God. Jesus is the Word and bread of life (John 1:1-3, John 1:14 and John 6:48). We need daily nourishing. Also the supernatural engages the Word of God. God often confirms the encounters and experiences we have with Him by His word. So make reading the Word a priority, the word of God is the sword that pierces and the fire that fuels the supernatural. One way that I have found useful is reading Scripture then replaying the same Scriptures on the Bible app. You will get additional revelation by doing this. Literature also shows that repeated reading or listening to something at least seven times, reinforces retention of information.

Walk in the SpiritWalking in the Spirit involves surrendering all areas of our life to the Holy Spirit and submitting to Him. It involves killing or dying to the flesh that the Holy Spirt may fully influence our lives. Submit your imagination, mind, and thoughts to the Spirit because that where the battle is the most Allow the Holy Spirit to invade all areas of life, leave no area untapped by the Holy Spirit. See Galatians 5:16.

Act- Walking in the supernatural lifestyle requires radical obedience. So move quickly, act quickly when the Holy Spirit instructs In James 2:14-26 NKJV we learn that faith without works is useless.  Move when God tells you to move even when you do not understand.  That is what Joshua did with the wall of Jericho (see Joshua Chapter 6).  God changed the strategy for warfare in this chapter, it was not like the other was the strategy of previous wars. So obey God without being analytical or rationalization. Trying to figure God out or bring logic to what He has instructed you will only delay and frustrate you until you do want, He instructs. And if you are stubborn, God will raise someone else to what you failed to do.  May I warn also, most of the supernatural moves of God are unannounced; He never warns when He will move. At times we will give us a signal that He is about to do something- most of the time we do not know what He will do, We only learn of it after the fact. To be successful in the supernatural you must TRUST THE HOLY SPIRIT.

Remember, the walking in the supernatural is an inherent right and blessing of each child of God. Romans 8:14 KJV says for as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Sons and daughters of God have the supernatural nature of God that they should engage with to their God in that capacity. God is impartial. Be encouraged by this, Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful (1 Corinthians 1:27 NLT). You qualify for the Supernatural Lifestyle!

ONENESS WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THIS GREAT MOVE

Most prophetic voices have continue to echo and share about the great upcoming move of God. The recently celebrated Pentecost is said to be a unique one, one that will usher this great move of God. The Person behind this ushering and who will be the catalyst for this move is the Holy Spirit. However, not many believers know this Great Powerful member of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit. This blog is an introduction to the Holy Spirit, Who He is and who He is not. I will share His attributes and works in the Old Testament. The next teaching and blog will be on how we can partner with the Holy Spirit in this new move.

The   purpose of salvation or being born again is not only to go to heaven to enjoy intimate communion and relationship with God while we are still here on earth. The whole purpose of salvation was to be reconciled in relationship and sonship with God. God created humans for interaction. We see this in His fellowship with Adam and Eve before they sinned. Later on God continued with Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses all of whom are recorded as people who walked with God. When sin abound so much, God sent His Son Jesus Christ whose through the sacrifice on the Cross, we were reconciled to fellowship with God. The redemption and restoration in fellowship was done through the blood of Jesus Christ and remains active through the person of the Holy Spirit (see Ephesians 1:4-7, Hebrews 9: 12-15, 2 Corinthians 5:19, and Romans 8:16).

As shared, God desires to dwell and commune with us. This omnipresence aspect of God now is with us through the Person of the Holy Spirit. Initially God communed with humans, after the fall He sent His own Son to dwell with us as Immanuel, God with us. When Jesus ascended to heaven, He promised that He will not leave us as orphans but send us a helper who would guide us in all things, this helper is the Holy Spirit (John 14:18). So we see the continual fellowship with God with the Trinity.

Much has been said about the coming move of God which most of us are waiting for with great anticipation. He is part of the Godhead- the Trinity.  God the Father (Jehovah) God the Son (Jesus Christ) and God the Holy Spirit (The Holy Spirit). The Holy Spirit is a Person not an it. He has a personality,  mind and  emotions  . The Holy Spirit is the Breathe of God. He was active at creation, we see that in Genesis Chapter 1, He was hovering around. God operates through the Person of the Holy Spirit- the Holy Spirit is the Administrator or Chief Operating Officer (CEO) in Gods Kingdom. 2 Timothy 3;16 says that all Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness- thus the Holy Spirit wrote the Bible- the writers were guided or under the influence of the Holy Spirit when it wa written. So whenever you read the Bible and need clarification of, ask the Author, the Holy Spirit and He will explain it.  In the Old Testament the Holy Spirit often rested on a person to accomplish a specific task- you read frequently that: the Spirit came upon them and they did something. Examples of the of works of the Holy in the Old Testament1 are:

The Holy Spirit participated in creation- Genesis 1:2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

The Holy Spirt gave life to creatures and earth Psalm 104:30-Lord when you send forth your Spirit they are created, and you renew the face of the ground.

The Holy Spirit breathed life in humans Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

The Holy Spirit was recognized by Humans Genesis 41:38 And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?”

The Holy Spirit strived with humans to convince them to repent and turn to God Genesis 6,3 And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years. This when sons of God also known as Angels; intermingled with daughters on earth.

The Holy Spirit Gave extraordinary power to leaders and people; Joshua in Numbers 27:18, Othniel Judges 3:9-10 Othniel the son of Kenan, Caleb’s younger brother. The Spirit of the Lord was upon him, and he judged Israel. He went out to war, and the Lord gave king of Mesopotamia into his hand. Gideon in Judges 6:34, Samson Judges 14:5-6, Saul in 1 Samuel- 10.9-13

The Holy Spirit Departed from Saul when He disobeyed God- 1 Samuel 16:14-But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and a distressing spirit from the Lord troubled him.

The Holy Spirit inspired King David- 2 Samuel 23:2“The Spirit of the Lord spoke by me, And His word was on my tongue.

The Holy Spirit Guided the prophets Ezekiel 2;2 And He said to me, “Son of man, stand on your feet, and I will speak to you. Then the Spirit entered me when He spoke to me and set me on my feet; and I heard Him who spoke to me.

The Holy Spirit inspired to do God’s will and walk in holiness Psalm 143:10 Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness.

The Holy Spirit encouraged walk in Gods’ commandments and morality- Ezekiel 36:27- I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.

The Holy Spirit prophesied about the coming of Jesus Christ and the nature of His ministry, see Isaiah 11:1-11 and the whole chapter of Isaiah 61

Who the Holy Spirit is not?

I am deeply concerned about the misuse of the Trinity and citing things that do not align with God’s character. I am careful not to say God said or the Holy Spirit said something. If you have grown up in church especially in Pentecostal or charismatic movements, you may have experience manifestations that were cited as the Holy Spirit, but they were not. Below is a list but not an comprehensive list of what the Holy Spirit is not:

  • The Holy Spirit is not a feeling or emotion that can be turned on and off
  • You either have the Holy Spirit or you do not because you cannot make Him up
  • He is not a manifestation such as loud shouting, yelling, disruptive rolling on floors, or running around wild
  • He never draws attention to Himself or to the person He is working through, the Holy Spirit always will turn the attention to God and glorify Him
  • The Holy Spirit will not do anything outside the Character of God, remember He is God -The Trinity
  • The Holy Spirit is patient and works when permitted, He does not impose Himself on us
  • He is not a manifestation, He is God. The manifestations are effects of His presence and works
  • Moving in a gift does not necessarily mean you have the Holy Spirit with you- Gifts can still function without a relationship with the Holy Spirit.
  • The Holy Spirit is the Anointing, the anointing can depart from a person and the person can still operate in the gift or calling because the gifts and callings of God are irrevocable, Romans 11:29
  • When one has disconnected with the Holy Spirit, the gifts may still work, the person though may not attain His full potential in His /her purpose of assignment
  • Disconnecting from the Holy Spirit may also result in the person being defiled by an evil spirit that may try to work through the gifts of a person- that is why people can still perform miracles but under the influence of another spirit.

 Practical Application

This blog is a transcript of video blog that you can find on my Facebook page or YouTube channel. In it, I shared an assignment that I would like to share with the readers too. As we anticipate next week,

  • Review the works of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament, identify if there are similarities with your current walk with the Holy Spirit.
  • Read the book of John and the Book of Acts and pay attention and identify the work of the Holy Spirit in the Scriptures
  • Review how He works in you based on what you read
  • Reflect on any areas that you need to submit to the Holy Spirit
  • Ask God to illuminate areas that need to submit to the Holy Spirit in your life
  • Repent of any areas you have grieved, misunderstood, and disobeyed Him ask God for forgiveness
  • Submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the leadership of the Holy Spirit
  • Ask God to baptize you afresh with the Holy Spirit and with Fire

TAP INTO THE POWER WITHIN

Ephesians 3:20-21 is one of my life Scripture. These Scriptures impacted me profoundly over a decade ago following prayer and intercession on an issue. Since then I’ve frequently been assured by the same scriptures; specifically, on the abundance aspects of God’s answers.

Ephesians 3:20-21 saysNow to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen.”

Lately though I’ve been drawn to this part of the Scriptures.” according to the power that is within us”. What power? . Initially I erroneously translated this to mean according to how strong my prayers were or how powerful in prayer I am . But that is wrong . According to the “power within us” means HOLY SPIRIT POWER” that is us

This is the Power that created the universe. He is the Power that moves like a wind, shakes mountains, parts waters, heals and delivers. The Power that flattens mountains and raises valleys! The Power that makes crooked paths straights and makes ways where there was no way. The Holy Spirit Power brings rivers of water in the deserts. It is the Power that anoints and carries God’s presence. This the same Power that raised Christ from the dead – in us. This same Power still raises the dead today! The Greater One that is you than in the world is This Power; THE HOLY SPIRIT. Hence surely, we can adamantly say NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD!

Hey that same Holy Spirit is available today waiting for us to tap into Him! Be baptized in the Holy Spirit, be continually be filled with Him.

Whatever you are going through now- tap into the Greater Power Within! The Person of the Holy Spirit. Remember He was sent to help, guide, teach, intercede for you and show you things to come. He will show you God’s heart for the situation. Reach out to this Powerful Person — Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty. Zechariah 4:6

PATIENCE WITH GOD’S GPS

The Global Positioning System (GPS) dates to as early as 1973. Then, it was under the ownership of the USA Airforce. The GPS provides navigation, positioning and timing; and has evolved to provide much accuracy to date. It’s amazing now to see the multiple routes GPS provides when travelling. I was personally impressed to discover that GPS was available in most rural parts of Africa for navigation. Anyway, I have a GPS experience that I would like to share about in this week’s blog.

Have you ever been impatient with the GPS, turned it off and used the route you “thought you knew”?  Well, I had that experience on Saturday. I was driving to a familiar destination and thought I knew the route, but the GPS diverted me to a more scenic windy route. As I drove, I thought I would recall the old routes and get to my destination because the route I was on though scenic, was new to me.  I was tempted to make a U-turn but remembered the GPS would likely keep recalculating and rerouting me back likely to the road I was on. I also recalled that the “GPS Lady” would just keep talking until I got her instructions right and I was not sure I wanted that either. So, I decided to “flow” with the GPS and still made it to my destination safely.

Consider the Holy Spirit as our GPS.  Like the natural GPS, the Holy Spirit too has been assigned to us to help us navigate life and help us accomplish our destinies. In John 16:12-33 we see the ministry of the Holy Spirit for each believer. Whereas the natural GPS relies on satellite and humans for updates, the Holy Spirit is part of the Godhead, He already knows the will of God for us making His instructions and guidance on point and on time where we cannot go wrong. Scripture says that He guides us in ALL truth! However, the Holy Spirit works at will. In Genesis 6:3 God says, “My Spirit will not strive/contend/fight with man”, emphasis added.

2019 has been a year of many changes and transitions. Part of that has involved transitions or adjustments to new and unfamiliar places. I encourage you to be patient and trust the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I have learned that at times, God because of His loving and  gracious nature may allow us to keep reprogramming “our own GPS- i.e. minds and agenda”; but at times He will keep redirecting us to the path He wants us to follow. The redirection may come after learning some hard lessons, but at least He gets us back on track. Trust that you are being guided by the One who sees the end from the beginning. God in Isaiah 46:10 says, “I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please. Trust the author and finisher of your faith. Trust the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the last; the One you predestined your destiny and the same of One who determines it’s end. Trust the I AM, the ever-present answer in the situation you need Him for. Trust Jesus the One who remains same in your journey. Trust the One who began this good work in you, that He will accomplish it

Wherever you are in life now, trust the Holy Spirit. He will never misguide or lie to you. Trust that God will bring you to the correct destination- For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end, Jeremiah 29:11.

GOD HAS ALREADY PREQUALIFIED YOU FOR THE TASK

I have heard it said that if you can handle the vision independently, then the vision is too small. Often when Gd calls or assigns us something it may look too grand to handle . My encouragement to you this week is to keep your eyes solely on God- God has already prequalified you for that task

When the vision is too grand; you may feel unqualified for the task. King Saul; Gideon and Moses felt the same . Both Gideon and Moses gave excuses as to why they could not live up to the task; King Saul went into hiding see 1 Samuel 10:20-24. Can you believe that an already confirmed king went hiding on the day of his inauguration? The Lord had to reveal to prophet Samuel where Saul was hiding!

Do you have a dream; vision; goal or project that you are running away from or avoiding because of its magnitude? I’ve learnt that God prequalifies you before assigning you something .In fact He addresses you by the qualifications of that assignment! Gideon was a mighty man of valor at the time of his appointment; Moses was the deliverer; Abraham a father of nations; Jesus as savior of the earth, also God with us as Emmanuel.Similarly;  God has already prequalified you for what He wants you to do. He will not give you an idea; dream; calling or assignment without preparing you . Endure the preparation process but it’s more important that you accept the call and get it started.

Romans 4:17 God calls those things that are not as though they are– We can run from the vision by looking up to others to direct us or there could be people who think you are not qualified for the task. Do not be intimidated by such people and do not OVERLY rely on people to steward what God has given you . When we do that we disqualify ourself; we loose our creativity and ability to hear from God. We can easily resort to human idolatry( which is sadly loathed after in form of followers; mentoring or  spiritual parenting). Engage God in the vision. Partner with the Holy Spirit for guidance. God is able to make what you think is impossible now possible; He is able to strengthen your weak areas; He is capable of amplifying your voice ; He is capable of making you bold and strong to speak in public. God is capable of giving you wisdom; knowledge, revelation and understanding despite your educational level or experience Acts 4:13- The testimony of Jesus Christ will manifest through you by the Holy Spirit Zechariah 4:6

My encouragement to you this week is that you stop disqualifying yourself . No matter where you are in life; you already have what it takes to pursue the dream; vision; objective or calling God has placed in your heart. God predestined you and prequalified you already for your destiny , Pursue the vision with total confidence in God.He who has begun a good work in you will see to it that you finish it Philippians 1:6

WHAT GRIEVES THE HOLY SPIRIT

If you have been brought up in church, you may be familiar with the statement “do not grieve the Holy Spirit”. Whereas we strive for fellowship and intimacy with the Holy Spirit, we should also be aware of what saddens Him. The Holy Spirit has a personality. In previous blogs I shared my experience in walking in the Spirit, today I would like to share what grieves the Spirit according to the  Bible; from personal experiences and observations and from, convictions of the Holy Spirit. This is not the complete list; there could be more. We grieve the Holy Spirit when:

  1.   When we cut Him short in worship, during prayer or during ministration
  2. When we abruptly change His flow through the songs we sing in worship-true worshippers and ministers can attest that the Holy Spirit will rest strongly on particular songs. When our agenda is to sing all the songs listed, or when the worship leader is tempted to put a show of skills, we quench the Holy Spirit

3)         When the church’s agenda or programs supersede the Agenda of the Holy Spirit

4)        When we insist on praying our own prayers whilst suppressing what the Holy Spirit wants us to pray for- This happens a lot during intercession. We can easily pray in the flesh – such prayers are amiss. We grieve Him when we leave Him out of prayer

5)         When the sanctuary of God, the meeting place, home or church is not honored or respected. The house that you live in and your body are also temples of God. The Holy Spirit is grieved when they are not honored

6)         The way we dress or present ourselves can grieve the Holy Spirit-This has nothing to do with wearing pants (trousers) or sleeveless clothes to church. whatever we do in action, dressing or presentation should not draw attention to us but should instead bring glory to God. Generally, worship and ministry should draw people to God and not to an individual. The Holy Spirit does not give glory to Himself but Jesus (John 15:26)

7)         When Spiritual gifts are used to manipulate or control others and or used to draw attention to skills and gifts of the presenter (same as the #6)

8)         When we ignore the instructions of the Holy Spirit when we take Him for granted. Ignoring the Holy Spirit is outright disastrous. Basically, you are on your own at that time; the absence of the Holy Spirit results in fleshly activities. Often that is when people start mimicking the Holy Spirit, fabricating or manufacturing outcomes.

9)         When we talk carelessly and construe Scriptures to meet our needs or when gifts and talents are selfishly -solely used for personal gain .

10)       When we do not use our time wisely; when we procrastinate or delay in implementing what the Holy Spirit has instructed us to do

11)       Unforgiveness, bitterness, jealousy, covetousness, malice, gossip, anger or rage that leads to sin, speaking evil or others, slander, unconfessed sin, among others also grieve the Holy Spirit

12) When we neglect His advice and seek counsel from people or other sources such us the occult, divination, palm reading, shaman, astrologers and other forms of witchcraft

My encouragement to you this week is ; respond quickly at the conviction of the Holy Spirit even if when it seems illogical. The Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity. We should relate to Him and reverence Him they way we treat Jesus and God our Father. Purpose to honor the Holy Spirit completely in life.

BE THE PRAYER MOUNTAIN

Spiritual retreats are integral part of our journey as believers. They are often recommended to allow us to recharge, refocus and refresh. We often return from these retreats, energized ready to face life. However with time, we tend to get tired again, relapse and want to head out for another retreat. My encouragement to you this week is that you can have an endless prayer mountain experience right now, wherever you are.

I do not refute the need to go to mountains to pray or take breaks for retreat; it is my hope these are not the only ways you can stay refreshed in the Lord. Prayer is an area that most believers struggle with; yet it also the most potent arsenal for a believer.

To stay recharged and refreshed, consider the following:
*Review your daily routines and identify two slots of time that you can dedicate to reading the Bible, Praying and Listening to God
*Start small, may be with just 15 minutes when you wake up , and 15 minutes before you go to bed
*You can break the 15 minutes, into, 5 minutes Bible Reading, 5 minutes, 5 minutes keeping quiet and listening to God
*Always have a journal next to write what you sense God may be telling. It may come as a thought, or a song or a vison
*You may also consider praying for different things on different days of the week. For example, Mondays are dedicated to praying for work, Tuesdays- your marriage, Wednesdays-Kids, Thursdays-Ministry, Fridays-finances, Saturdays- Thanksgiving for what God has done, Sundays-praying for what God showed you throughout the week in your journal
*If praying for specific issues, always identify a Scripture that aligns to that issue and use the Scripture in prayer
*If filled with the spiritual gift of tongues (prayer language) pray more in the Spirit, in fact press to pray more in that. This is partnership with the Holy Spirit interceding  for you. See Romans 8:26-27

Consistency is the key to success in most areas of our lives. This applies to our walk with God too. As you continue in prayer, you will notice that your commitment to prayer will start to enhance you spiritually. You may notice that you are praying more with ease, God in turn will respond to your prayers.

This week, BE THE PRAYER MOUNTAIN. Start your own retreat where you are. The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth (Psalm 145:18.) Oh GOD who hear prayer, To GOD all men come. (Psalm 65.2)

RIVERS THAT LEAD TO OCEANS

Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them. John 7:38. The above is Jesus speaking concerning the promise of the Holy Spirit and the abundance anyone can have if they believe and ask God for more of Him.

Yesterday while praying I heard the Lord say “RIVERS” Later as I meditated on this word I noticed that naturally, some rivers are a collection of streams and others can be traced to their origins. Regardless, most rivers end up pouring to a bigger mass of water; often oceans.

To the Christian, these rivers are the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which have the potential to impact and bring much increase in our lives. You may have a thought to start a business, if you collaborate with the Holy Spirit, He will help you write the business plan, outline your vision, strategies and even given you the marketing plan. Everything birthed after the original thought, are Rivers of the Holy Spirit flowing.

If you a parent, you may have a thought about your child, as you pray the Holy Spirit may show you ten things to pray about or do for your child that you were not aware of. These are the Rivers, flowing to produce more.
The Rivers of the Holy Spirit though come to those who believe. So, the first step will be to invite Jesus as your Lord and savior, by simply saying that Jesus, I repent of my sins, I believe you are the Son of God who died and rose again for me. I welcome you as my Lord. After that, just ask the Jesus to fill you with the Holy Spirit. If you have received Jesus already, just ask Jesus to fill you again with the Holy Spirit and He will.

For this week, evaluate if there are any areas of life or ministry that you would like to see more productivity in. God will honor your hunger, ask Jesus to fill you with RIVERS of the Holy Spirit. As you get filled, continue to foster what God gives you. As you obey, God will give you more. Pray more in the language of the Holy Spirit. When the ideas and revelations start flowing, write them down, pray over them continually. I’ve learned that God reveals more as I press in with Him. Pretty soon your oceans will start to manifest. Your RIVERS will lead to much wider oceans; greater results-exceedingly abundantly above what you thought!
