WALKING IN LOVE IN THE MIDST OF AN OFFENSE

After forgiving your offender, the challenge often comes in how to relate with the person after reconciliation. This can be tough based on the nature of the offense and the damage it caused. Among the areas I’ve asked God to help develop is how to relate with the person lovingly through God’s agape love after the offense.

This blog is specific to relationships fostered among friends, associates or acquittances, Loving the offender does not mean agreeing with what they did. Walking in Love does not require reinstitution of the relationship to the level that it was before. There could be a need to set healthy boundaries or to permanently end such relationships.  At times God allows people in our lives to accomplish specific tasks within a given period. Wisdom calls for us to know when seasons with such people have ended. Overstaying a relationship result in hurts and disappointments simply because the person was not meant to stay long-term.

Walking in love towards a person who has offended you requires a level of humility and determination to still love God despite what happened. Jesus taught that if we love Him, we must follow His commandments (John 14:15). Among His commandments is to love on another as we love ourselves and to love the Lord my God with all our hearts, minds and soul (Mark 12:30-31). This means that if we say we love Jesus, we will love our offender. If we say we Love God, we will love our offender. Love is generous, trust is earned.

So, what does love look like amidst the offense? It is viewing the offender from Jesus’s perspective, ministering and serving the person in love, not being defensive, rude short or abrupt in your relationship with the person; responding to their texts, call and emails in love, not blustering them on Facebook and WhatsApp chat groups; not reminding the person of the offense, not being vindictive, praying for the person, blessing the person; it is being the light in the midst of darkness (Romans 12:20; Proverbs 25:21-22).  Even a little dim light overpowers darkness!

Walking in love in the midst of an offense is a test of faith! As you pass each “love test” every time you relate with your offender, you will be maturing concurrently with each test. Continue to do this even when your offender does not recognize your efforts. I must warn that it can be painful to do good to someone who does not acknowledge or recognize the good being done; it hurts when the offender refuses to admit the offense; but continue to do good, God will reward you-Galatians 6:9

Forgive, then keep walking in love!

TRUTH-SHIELD-BUCKLER

Often after prolonged periods of waiting for answers to prayers, we give up praying and lose hope for the answer. However, there is a powerful tool that can be used beyond, and this is the Word of God.

Believe you me, waiting for answer or breakthrough is an aspect of spiritual warfare because we have to fight all other voices and options if we want to stay true to God and wait for His best. Psalm 91 comes to mind. I recommend reading the entire chapter, but a few months ago, verse 4 caught my attention. It says He (God) shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

What does it mean then to have God’s truth as a shield and buckler? God’s truth is the Word of God, (2) Jesus is the truth; see John 1:1 and John 14:6.  A shield is a piece of personal armour held in the hand or mounted on the wrist or forearm. Shields are used to intercept specific attacks, whether from close-ranged weaponry or projectiles such as arrows, by means of active blocks, as well as to provide passive protection by closing one or more lines of engagement during combat OR a person or thing providing protection.

A buckler is most useful for deflecting the blow of an opponent’s weapons by binding his arms or hindering his movements. A buckler was mostly worn on the forearm. In Ephesians 6, we are encouraged to put on the full armour of God with righteousness as our shield.

If at all you are in warfare of “waiting” or trusting God for an answer, engage these tools this week. There is spiritual warfare beyond prayer, and this is it. When you can no longer pray, find the Scripture promise that applies to your petition, then continually engage by confessing that Scripture whenever you are reminded of that petition.

That Word of God, which is the truth will be the shield that intercept those frequent attacks of anxiety and worry related to your petition. The Word of God will deflect any camouflage and alternate answer from coming through. Continue to focus on Jesus, the ultimate truth, way and life as you wait for the best outcome from God. When doubt, fear, anxiety or worry comes occupy yourself with the TRUTH-SHIELD AND BUCKLER

See the how the shield and buckler work from the definition in the Blog. Like you, understanding their use gave me courage to continually apply the Word of God while waiting for answers. This week’s blog, can’t wait to hear from you so BLOG BACK PLEASE

FAITH AND DELIVERANCE

Although Satan may subject us to multiple attacks, the key to our victory is not to overly focus the devil or the attack. This does not mean ignoring the attack, but rather refocusing our attention to our strongest Defender, Jesus Christ. OUR VICTORY IS BY FAITH. Whenever the devil shows up, rebuke him, renounce him, cast him out, declare God’s destiny promises over you and move on

Put less emphasis on the attack; the devil would want you to dwell on the attack to get a platform for more attacks. We empower whom we focus on. The armor of faith (Ephesians 6:10-18) will be the fiery weapon to launch concurrently as you concentrate on God’s Word that is related to the attack the devil has launched against you. That Scripture is your Sword-the Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God. Declare that Scripture/promise amidst the negative experience. FAITH and relentless focus births the victory.

Apostle Paul testifies of additional weapons in 2 Corinthians 6:1-10; emphasis on verse seven (7), about weapons of righteousness on both hands. We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain.  For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you. “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. We give no offense in anything, that our ministry may not be blamed. But in all things we commend ourselves as ministers of God: in much patience, in tribulations, in needs, in distresses,  in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in sleeplessness, in fastings; by purity, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Spirit, by sincere love, 7 by the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, 8 by honor and dishonor, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true; 9 as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold we live; as chastened, and yet not killed;  as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things (NJKV).

So,with one hand we rebuke and cast out the devil, in one hand we decree and declare because our hope and faith are in Jesus Christ our Rock. We do both of these while maintain our hand on the plough doing what God as assigned us to do. In Christ we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:28). Not in the devil and his schemes.

Let faith in God push you through. Let persistence determination fuel you. Greater is He that is in you than he that is the World. Keep your eyes in Jesus. The Author and Finisher of your faith. He who started a good work in you will bring it to completion (Philippians 1.6). Release the armor of faith backed by the Word of God which is the Sword of the Spirit. You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world (1 John 4:4) NIV. If stuck, seek the assistance of a trusted reputable deliverance minister.w

DO NOT DRAG THEM WITH YOU

I get excited over most things and often in my excitement, I am quick to share the experience. This was a habit six years ago; I used to share quite a lot with people I thought were open to my insights until I learned the hard way that they were least interested. Well, I have been discovering some interesting stuff lately and I have been tempted to share the information until I heard in my spirit, “do not share that now, don’t drag them with you.”

You see each person is at different stage of being processed by God, so we cannot assume that everyone is where we are, and they should get what we have. Everyone is in some form of process in their walk with God. Instead, we should celebrate and encourage each other in whatever stage we are in our spiritual walk and in life.  To include someone in your process will only lead to frustration on your part but it may lead discord. It also borders on control. On the other hand, not everyone will want to join or share your journey; it will be like pulling a sack uphill, that can be tiring. There are lessons God will want you to keep secret and there are experiences God will want you to endure alone. I bet God does this to test us, to develop our character and to wait until the information is well formed in us to be delivered at the appropriate time.

In this season if friends do not respond when relationships end; that’s fine. Take courage. Not everyone is supposed to journey with you to your promise land. Abraham had to separate from Lot, see Genesis 13: 5-18. This story is critical because it shows a separation of two people who were very close to one another.

The journey to the promise land may require separating from close friends, things and environments that you were used to. It okay to journey alone because God will never leave you. Remember also, that each person is in process that is quite unique to yours. Just enjoy your journey, if God meant for them to be where you are, they will, but don’t force them or pull them uphill. You will hurt yourself. Don’t drag past experiences either, behold God is doing a new thing in this season, Isaiah 43:19.

ASK GOD TO GROW THAT WEAK SPOT

Human nature tends to criticize or point fingers to areas of inadequacies or lack. Ministries and churches get brunt of these based on peoples’ needs. Likewise, people may be hard on themselves because of the weakness they have. My encouragement to you this week is to ASK GOD TO FIX THAT WEAK SPOT!

As believers, we are in the process of being perfected slowly by slowly. Final perfection will come in eternity with Jesus. Consider that any stage of life is a process of being perfected. So is the Church, so is the ministry, so are the pastors. So, should you see a weak area in your church, or an area that is lacking- (1) pray and ask God to grow and mature that area; whether it is in a department or person. (2) Second ask God for what you can do to improve that area. It may be an idea, a recommendation or personal involvement. (3) The next step is to share those ideas or recommendations respectfully with the church leaders, person or leader.

Don’t be quick to critizing, judge, or point fingers at the weakness of others. Avoid sabotaging or holding others siege with demands because of your discontent. If you are convinced that you need to move on, do so respectively. There is a way of ending relationships respectively and in love. Avoid getting involved in unproductive rumors or spreading your discontent about the person, church, ministry or minister.

You see the weak spot is a like as seed. Naturally, seeds are fragile. They can be squashed, trampled on or destroyed. When sown in fertile soil, these same seeds thrive. You are that fertile soil. Fertile means, tilted, fertilized, mature, nourished; made ready to nurture the seed to maturity. You are that fertile soil. You are the temple of the Lord; you are God’s righteous, a holy nation, a peculiar person, filled with the Holy Spirit, equipped and called to great works-refined regularly and transformed from glory to glory.  Surrender that weak area to the Lord. Surrendering the weak area is like placing the seed in the soil. So, submit the weak area to the mighty God who now lives in you!

Personally, if you have an area of weakness, don’t beat yourself either. Commit that area to the Lord also. Pray and ask the Holy Spirit- “Holy Spirit expose and show me how to improve this area. Holy Spirit, breath, water, grow this spot”. Luke 11:11 says that God will not give you stone if you ask for bread. God is faithful, when we ask He responds. God grants the desires of a pure heart. God’s grace is perfect for weaknesses!

Don’t give up, don’t leave, don’t quit yet- ask God to fix that weak spot. The Lord will perfect that which concerns you. Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands. Psalm 138:8

CELEBRATE DELIVERANCE

Often deliverance is associated with demonic oppression and exorcism, yet in the entire chapter of Psalm 107 we see the various forms of deliverances that the Lord exercised among the Israelites and continues to do so today for each believer.

I could not help but reflect on my life and testify of key areas of my life that I experienced the Lord’s deliverance. Together this week, let’s reflect on those areas and join together in thanksgiving with declarations that “the Lord is good and His mercies endures forever”
Consider these highlights:
• Have you ever gone through something that left you so lost as though you’ve lost your mind? OR even concluded that if it were not for God, you could have gone crazy. Did you cry out to the Lord and He brought you to your senses guiding you in wisdom- if so, consider Psalm 107:4-6

• Have you ever waited so long for an answer; you thirsted and waited and after sometime God responded filling you with more than you expected? If so consider Psalm 107: 9

• Have you ever acted in rebellion, got mad at God, decided to do your own thing, but yet seeing the failing outcomes of your independence, you ran back to the Lord and He still bailed you out? If so consider Psalm 107:11-13

• Have you ever been through something the world and experts say is impossible and unsalvageable, yet an encounter with our Almighty reversed it because all things are possible with Him? If so consider Psalm 107: 15-16

• Have you ever compromised so much so that the consequences were dire? Your friends died from of the consequences of what you compromised on yet, you escaped without a scratch? If so consider Psalm 107:17-22

• Have you barraged with attack after attack, seeing no breakthrough in things , facing days when your business was dry, your plans were at a standstill, when you lost all hope yet suddenly, the Lord intervened , bringing favor and fruitfulness in your life. If so, consider Psalm 107: 23-43.

I am sure you can write your life story testifying of the many accounts of the Lord’s deliverance in your life just from reading Psalm 107. This week ponder on them. Take time to celebrate God’s many deliverances in your life.

LORD DELIVER US FROM DEMONIC ASSIGNMENTS

Jesus in Luke 10:18- 19 says, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.See, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will harm you….

While in prayer a few ago I saw the words; demonic assignments-distractions. As I pondered on them, I heard the Holy Spirit say distractions are demonic assignments.

Have you ever committed to a goal or task and just when you are about to pursue you find yourself heavily involved in something completely unrelated to your purpose. Most of these things may not be sinful in nature, in fact they may appear worthwhile and in line with your calling or destiny, yet in other sense they are not.

On the other hand they can also present as something that steals your joy, peace and inflict pain, unrest, confusion or frustration. In here you may notice harassing spirits, instigating, and intimidating spirits. These cause major havoc and they can really side track you to delay, slow you down or utterly distract you. Before you know it, you will be like “how in the world did I get here…..? or What was I thinking?

Examples of demonic assignments include, getting involved with someone you should not be involved with, participating in a conversation or debate you had no business being part of, pursuing a business venture or association that you hesitate being part of, being coaxed to belong or do something yet you do out being “nice” not wanting to make them “feel bad”

Because of this, it is not safe to gear prayer one sided. Staying in fellowship with the Holy Spirit will alert you to impeding danger. Spiritual warfare prayer then should become an integral part of daily and regular prayer. I call this; ensuring all areas are covered. While there, rebuke every demonic assignment and its effects on the past present or future. Rebuke and destroy the plots of assignments to come, assignments for the week and even for the month. Pray in advance of the adversity or distraction

So this week we are praying- God in the authority of the Name of Jesus and through the power of the Holy Spirit in us, we cancel every demonic assignments in our lives. We renounce and revoke their effects on our lives. We destroy their plots and divert the paths of their agents to dry places. We reclaim our destiny and assignments and place them on schedule. Lord let your will from heaven be done concerning our assignments on earth right now in Jesus Name. Amen
